Testing Dates

The International University of Monaco is an official ETS test site for the iBT TOEFL.

The TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition and the GRE General Test at home are being conducted through the use of live remote proctoring serviced by ProctorU®. This high-touch, real-time human monitoring of test sessions limits the number of seats available. Prospective test takers are encouraged to register as soon as possible for the best chance to secure their preferred date and time. At this time, the at-home testing is available until test centers reopen, and the situation returns to normality.

Questions / Answers

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings. The TOEFL is one of several standardized tests accepted at the International University of Monaco to demonstrate English proficiency. IUM students who plan to go on an exchange semester may be required to have a valid TOEFL score.
The TOEFL test is now offered as an internet-based (iBT)TOEFL which is entirely administered on a computer via the internet on fixed dates at secure test centers. The International University of Monaco is an official testing site. Please see above the testing dates available at IUM.
The test includes four sections: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It takes about four hours to complete. Speaking fluent English is not always enough to do well. You should also become familiar with the test format. Click here to learn how to prepare.
You can take the TOEFL at the International university of Monaco, which is an official testing site. Please see above the testing dates available at IUM. The iBT TOEFL is also available at other official ETS approved test centers.
An organization called Educational Testing Services (ETS) administers the test, decides its content, and determines testing dates and times. So while you can take your TOEFL at the International University of Monaco, you must register with ETS at www.ets.org/toefl

You need to select your score recipients (designated institutions to receive your scores) during registration. You may update this information online up until 10:00 p.m. the evening before the test day. You cannot select your score recipients at the test center. A code list for colleges and universities is available during online registration. The code list for the International University of Monaco is 9074. When registering, be sure that the spelling of your name matches the name printed on the identification document(s) you will present at the test center. If this information does not match, you will not be permitted to test and your test fee will be forfeited.

Online registration requires a valid credit card (Amercian Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, or VISA).

Be sure to register early. The number of test spaces is limited. Keep in mind that it generally takes 3 weeks to receive test scores, so plan well ahead. Registration typically opens two months in advance.
The TOEFL is scored out of 120 points. The complete scale is shown below. The total test score required by the International University of Monaco is 79. Test scores are valid for two years from the test date. Scores are mailed to institutions but you can view your scores online for free 3 weeks after the test. Later, you will receive score reports in the mail.
You should familiarize yourself with the format, learn some testing-taking strategies, and do some practice tests. Click here to learn how.
You can see your scores online on the ETS website about 3 weeks after you take the test. At IUM we need to receive an official copy of your score directly from ETS. So when you register, be sure to list IUM as an official score recipient. Our institutional code is 9074.
Not everyone will immediately attain the entry requirement for study at university. That’s why Intensive English Language courses are available each term at IUM. Our courses are open to anyone who is interested in successfully undertaking university study in English and in preparing for the iBT TOEFL.
