LIBRARIAN – Job Descrition

The Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian will ensure management of the library’s resources, e-resources, and systems.

The Librarian will have to ensure optimized, continuous access to the library’s databases, books, journals, and other resources through effective management and troubleshooting of all related systems.

MAIN TASKS

  • Facilitates e-resource connectivity, discovery, and maintenance issues by administering a range of library systems and services.
  • Provides research assistance and instruction to students, faculty, and staff on-site and remotely.
  • Configures and maintains library technologies supporting electronic and other resource access.
  • Manages resource records, usage statistics, licensing terms, and other account and subscription information in consultation with the director.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of electronic resources and identifies ways to make access more effective and efficient.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection, deselection and ordering of materials in all media
  • Creates clear and efficient workflows for all e-resource and other acquisitions and discovery tasks.
  • Ensure the marketing of library resources and services, keeping users aware of new products/ services.
  • Participates in international accreditation related projects and provides support in related missions, especially related to faculty intellectual contributions materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • English Fluent, French good speaking, other language is an asset.
  • Experience of at least 2-3 years in a similar position is required.
  • 1st experience in a high education establishment or business school is an asset.
  • Graduate degree in library management or/and information science program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of integrated library systems (ILS) including cataloging, acquisitions, administration, and serials modules. Millennium proficiency is a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practices, current trends, and issues in electronic resources management.
  • Ability to configure, maintain and troubleshoot the library ILS and other technologies sufficient to make e-resources and other acquisitions discoverable.
  • Ability to provide research assistance and instruction to users : students, faculty, staff on-site and remotely.
  • Proficiency with technology sufficient to create research tools and presentations.
  • Capacity to build relationships with teaching faculty.
  • Knowledge of scholarly communication issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a high comfort level with innovation and change.
  • Strength of proposal, of animation and of implementation of electronic resources to support “online learning” activities
  • Deployment of tools and resources available at the Group level in relation with Group support services

In view of its continuous growth, the International University of Monaco (IUM), invites applications for full-time permanent positions as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the fields of:

Management:

Candidates whose research interests and teaching experience are related to strategy, industry and competitive analysis, entrepreneurship, sustainable development and human resources management are encouraged to apply.

Marketing:

Candidates whose research interests and teaching experience are related to hospitality, consumer behavior, digital marketing and luxury marketing are encouraged to apply.

Finance:

Candidates whose research interests and teaching experience are related to hedge fund strategies and hedge fund management, private banking, wealth management, impact investing and sustainable finance are encouraged to apply.

Appointments are made at Full, Associate or Assistant Professor ranks depending on research achievements, teaching record and business experience. Successful candidates for full time positions need to illustrate high research potential.

All positions are based in the Principality of Monaco.

Rank of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and salary will be competitive.

About the positions

According to the conditions of the Faculty Charter, the main duties and responsibilities are the following:

Engage in teaching activities, pedagogical coordination, and pedagogical development:

  • Teach between 150 and 195 hours per year (depending on the profile, the division of activities and research achievements).
  • Support students, engage in pedagogical activities and in project-based learning approaches, take part in students’ oral project presentations
  • Contribute to program design and continuous improvement of programs

Contribute to scholarly research activities and the development of applied scholarly activities, for example:

  • Contribute to research activities and in particular to the areas of excellence developed within the IUM
  • Invest in the development of applied research
  • Contribute to the development of funded research projects and the setting up of partnerships with business organizations.

Support the development of the IUM and its projects, in particular:

  • Take part in events organized by the IUM
  • Support marketing and promotions initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of the IUM’s reputation
  • Support and contribute to the development of business engagement activities

PROFILE OF APPLICANTS

Previous experience and essential qualifications

  • PhD or DBA in the field of expertise applied for and demonstrated ability to produce high quality research and publications in recognized peer reviewed academic journals (ABDC, FNEGE, CNRS ranking)
  • Experience of teaching in a Management School or at a University
  • Ability/experience in blended learning / e-learning will be highly appreciated
  • Ability to teach in English
