IUM association TwoHelp organized during the Spring 2016 term a 6-week baking contest to raise funds for educating underprivileged children in developing countries.
Every Tuesday, teams of 3 to 4 students prepared delicious home-baked goods from their countries of origin and used their business and marketing skills to sell them during the class breaks to maximize the revenues that were then donated to Mission Enfance, a Monegasque NGO funding education in Armenia, Burkina Faso, Lebanon and Vietnam.
The contest participants raised a total of 1162 euros, allowing TwoHelp to fully sponsor one more child’s education for 3 years. The winning team “Donaete” (Bachelor students Alena Verevkina, Zhanna Ogay, Aisana Nurlanova, Gulnaz Barat) won the competition by cashing in 307€ with their delicious deserts. They chose 9-year old Margarita from Armenia as the ninth member of the TwoHelp-sponsored children’s family.
Special thanks go to the other teams too – “Whipped Dream” (Valeriya Bystrykh, Angelina Chigrinets and Manon Banaudo) collected 254€, “Mochiteam” (Mia Jane Gillard, Clotilde Della Monica and Claire Chevallier) sold baked goods for 215€, the “Golden Lions” (Polina Zhuravleva, Léo Khalaf and Iman Orynbekova) collected 171€, and “The Sweet Spot” host team (Caroline Bode, Annick Gunther and Lambert Diacono) made 215€.
We are proud of all the IUM community members that took part in the bake sale and helped IUM association TwoHelp achieve its mission – Changing lives. One child at a time.
As many of the TwoHelp team members are graduating this year, we are looking forward to welcoming new members. If you would like to join us, please visit our website www.twohelp.net and contact any of the current members for more information.
