Home » What is the difference between an MBA in Finance and an MSc in Finance?

Have you completed several years of study and would like to expand your knowledge in the field of finance? There are a number of courses available. In this article, learn about the differences between an MBA in Finance and an MSc in Finance.

What do MSc and MBA mean?

The MBA, Master of Business Administration, and the MSc, Master of Science, are two types of Anglo-Saxon degree courses offered by various business and management schools in Monaco and abroad. Both offer students the prospects of exciting careers in a wide range of fields.

After completing an MSc or an MBA, you will have a high-level degree. What these two courses have in common is that they have a strong international focus and are usually taught in English.

What is an MBA?

An MBA is an international degree in business studies. It is, therefore, possible to take an MBA in business, law, or finance, although the majority of MBAs offered by schools are generalist and multidisciplinary. During an MBA, you will develop your managerial skills in a stimulating, multicultural, and exciting environment.

Above all, the MBA is a fantastic career accelerator, enabling you to develop new skills and progress to positions of high managerial responsibility.

What is an MSc?

Much like the MBA, the MSc combines theory and practice to prepare you for exciting careers. These days, there is a wide variety of MSc programs offering training in a specific field. For example, you can take an MSc in Luxury Management, an MSc in Sports Management, an MSc in Communications, an MSc in International Management, or an MSc in Finance. MSc programs are excellent ways of specializing in a particular sector and becoming more professional, thanks to periods spent working in a company.

Who can do an MBA and an MSc in Finance?

Both MBAs and MSc programs offer effective training in a wide range of promising careers. However, they are not aimed at the same target group. The MSc is designed for students who have completed 3 or 4 years of higher education. Previous professional experience is an advantage when applying for an MSc, but it is not always compulsory.

The MBA, on the other hand, is designed for candidates who already have at least 3 years of professional experience. Without this, it is impossible for them to join an MBA program. The aim of the MBA is to enable professionals to progress in their careers and acquire new knowledge and skills to take up management positions. Executive MBA programs are reserved for experienced professionals, executives and entrepreneurs.
