As a graduate of the MSc in Sports Business Management at IUM, Zoé balances her role as a B2B Digital Marketing Coordinator in Sydney with a thriving freelance business, managing social media, content creation, and photography for major global events like the Monaco F1 Grand Prix and the Australian Open.

At the International University of Monaco (IUM), we believe that the sports industry cannot be fully understood through textbooks alone. It must be felt, observed, and experienced in the field. This philosophy of experiential learning was put into high gear last week as our Sports Business Management (SBM) students embarked on an intensive study trip to London, one of the world’s most influential sports capitals.

What does it really take to build a career in professional football, beyond the pitch?

For Vittorio Svaldo Lanero, student in the MSc in Sports Business Management at the International University of Monaco, the answer became clear through a hands-on experience inside one of Italy’s most historic clubs.

As part of its Career Week, the International University of Monaco welcomed Elena Milovanovic Avramovic, Founder of The Agency, alongside Nastasia Dormeuil and Laura Pochylski from All Time.

Bringing together expertise in both athlete representation and day-to-day management, the session offered students a comprehensive perspective on the realities of working in the sports industry.

Far from the glamour often associated with professional sport, their insights revealed a demanding profession built on trust, adaptability, and constant availability—where managing an athlete means navigating both performance and personal dimensions.

From February 25th to March 1st, MSc in Sports Business Management students went to Switzerland.

Before, she worked as Events Organiser at LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR for four years.

Bridging the gap between ‘traditional’ teaching methodologies and the application of industry knowledge in the classroom not only enhances the curriculum but can help students understand the link between theory and practice and better prepare them for the future.

Marina Leal, Brasilian, studies Bachelor’s program at IUM. She has chosen the Sports Business Management specialization for her 3rd year. She did her internship as Media Planning Activation at Adidas for six months.
