Meet with Carolina Urias, a dynamic Spanish/French new student of the MSc in Luxury Management program.

How did you come about the idea of studying abroad?

I have been working in the luxury industry on the French Riviera for seven years now, and I decided to challenge myself by going back to university. It was the moment to invest in my future, and I am confident IUM is the perfect place to accomplish my professional and personal goals.

What is your background?

I have a degree in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid. After three years of working in the Research Department in the Anti-Doping Control Laboratory in Paris, I decided to study a Master in Cosmetics and Dermopharmacy in Madrid. This degree opened the door to top companies such as Pierre Fabre and Nuxe.
My first experience in the luxury industry was in Saint Tropez, working for Dolce Gabbana as Sales Assistant.
Afterward, I joined Christian Dior in Cannes, where I was Sales Assistant, Responsible for the CRM, and the Dior Maison ambassador in store.
As I wanted to achieve more skills and experiences in this sector, I accepted the challenge to become Visual Merchandiser for Dolce Gabbana in Monaco, and I took care of the four stores in the French Riviera (Monaco, Cannes, Saint Tropez, and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat Pop Up Store).

Why did you choose to study an MSc in Luxury Management?

There are many reasons why I chose an MSc in Luxury Management program. The main one is my passion for fashion and the luxury industry. I want to enhance my career and invest in my education by deepening my management skills and getting more experiences, inside and outside the courses.

Why is IUM the best choice for you?

Considering Monaco, a multicultural enclave for the luxury business, I think that IUM is the right place to develop the abilities required to compete for an exciting position in the luxury industry.

The program is designed to give students a strong foundation in Luxury Management but is also offering a necessary hands-on approach, in working closely with large corporations and emerging brands. I think this is the best way to fully immerse myself in the luxury industry and improve my knowledge and my competences.

What is your dream career goal?

I chose the Fashion and Accessories Management specialization as it fits in perfectly with my career aims. It will help me progress towards my goals and achieve a higher profile, such as becoming Store Manager, Product Manager, or one of the multiple career paths this Master can offer.
I must say that after reading the MSc Luxury program carefully, I realized the vast amount of possibilities where my professional career could be headed to.
