At the International University of Monaco (IUM), we believe that the sports industry cannot be fully understood through textbooks alone. It must be felt, observed, and experienced in the field. This philosophy of experiential learning was put into high gear last week as our Sports Business Management (SBM) students embarked on an intensive study trip to London, one of the world’s most influential sports capitals.

What does it really take to build a career in professional football, beyond the pitch?

For Vittorio Svaldo Lanero, student in the MSc in Sports Business Management at the International University of Monaco, the answer became clear through a hands-on experience inside one of Italy’s most historic clubs.

Students from the MSc in International Management with specialization in Real Estate had the opportunity to visit Mareterra, Monaco’s newest waterfront district, accompanied by Benjamin Franco (Real Estate Sales Associate at Douglas Elliman Real Estate). The project was presented on site by Régis Adeline (Directeur général chez SAM Anse du Portier).

As part of its Career Week, the International University of Monaco welcomed Elena Milovanovic Avramovic, Founder of The Agency, alongside Nastasia Dormeuil and Laura Pochylski from All Time.

Bringing together expertise in both athlete representation and day-to-day management, the session offered students a comprehensive perspective on the realities of working in the sports industry.

Far from the glamour often associated with professional sport, their insights revealed a demanding profession built on trust, adaptability, and constant availability—where managing an athlete means navigating both performance and personal dimensions.

As part of the Career Week at the International University of Monaco, students had the opportunity to explore the philosophy behind one of Italy’s most distinctive jewelry maisons with Maurizio Bodano.

With over a century of history, Buccellati stands as a unique example of how craftsmanship, heritage, and strategic growth can coexist in today’s luxury landscape.

During IUM Career Week, students had the opportunity to attend an insightful finance session led by Filippo Cavalli, partner at Quadrivio Group. The talk offered a deep dive into the world of private equity, with a particular focus on the lifestyle sector, an area where Quadrivio has developed a highly specialized and distinctive investment strategy.

As part of IUM’s Career Week, an initiative designed to connect students with industry professionals, the university welcomed Guido Giovannelli, an experienced leader in the luxury automotive sector with over 30 years of international career experience.

The event offered students a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand insights into one of the most competitive and evolving industries, while also reflecting on their own future career paths.

Students from the MSc in Luxury Management program (Yachting Specialization) attended two complementary sessions with Oceanco, one of the world’s leading shipyards specializing in fully customized luxury yachts. Together, the sessions provided a comprehensive perspective on the luxury yachting industry, from brand positioning and ecosystem dynamics to the technical and creative realities of yacht design.
