Research interests
Dr. Karina Mukanova is an academic researcher specializing in sports governance, the social impacts and legacy of major international sporting events, and their role in diplomacy and geopolitics. She studies all types of international sporting events, with her recent research focusing specifically on co-hosting arrangements. Her work draws on interorganizational relations, strategic alliance, and collaborative governance theories to examine how multiple stakeholders coordinate and interact to deliver complex events and their social, economic, and political outcomes.
