Inside the IUM MBA Orientation Week
Every journey to leadership begins with the right foundation.
At the International University of Monaco (IUM), this foundation is built from day one. The MBA Orientation Week brought together a diverse group of aspiring leaders for five days of learning, collaboration, and real-world engagement. Through a mix of academic sessions, networking opportunities, and cultural experiences, the event introduced students not only to the IUM MBA program, but also to the values and community that make IUM a truly international business school.
A Warm Welcome and an Inspiring Start
The week began with offering new students the chance to meet faculty, staff, and peers in a friendly atmosphere. This was followed by an Info Session which provided an overview of the MBA program its structure, academic expectations, and the career-driven opportunities it offers. Students then participated in the first professional development seminar that focused on career goals and personal growth. These early sessions encouraged reflection and self-awareness, setting the tone for a transformational academic year ahead.
Building Collaboration and Leadership Skills
A strong emphasis throughout the week was placed on teamwork and leadership, two pillars of the IUM MBA experience. Multiple sessions of Virtual Teamwork & Leadership guided the students through the essentials of effective communication, collaboration, and leadership in cross-cultural business environments. These interactive workshops gave participants a glimpse into how modern teams operate in a globalized workplace and helped them build relationships that would serve them throughout the program and beyond.


Learning from Monaco’s Business Ecosystem
One of the most distinctive features of the MBA at IUM is its connection to the local business community. During the session “Learn from Monaco” students had the opportunity to gain insights directly from professionals who contribute to Monaco’s economic and entrepreneurial landscape. students took this experience a step further with a meeting with business advisors at The Office Monaco in Fontvieille. This event allowed students to interact with experienced business leaders, ask questions about industry trends, and explore future career paths. The session emphasized the importance of networking, a crucial skill for anyone pursuing success in international business.
Strengthening Analytical and Strategic Thinking
Students dived into a range of specialized workshops covering key management topics. Sessions like Organization Design & Change Management, Data & Decision Making, Marketing Strategy provided a strong academic foundation in strategy, analytics, and organizational behavior. Along with sessions on digital IUM tools for online learning ensuring that they were equipped with the digital competencies essential for today’s business leaders.
Career Development and Personal Growth
Beyond classroom learning, the MBA Orientation Week included one-on-one career coaching sessions designed to help students align their personal goals with their professional ambitions. Meanwhile, it also focused on leadership presence, self-awareness, and building a professional identity.
Networking and Community Building
Networking was a central theme throughout the week. After a complimentary lunch where students connected in a more social setting, forming early friendships and professional relationships. Followed by a networking cocktail in the evening brought together MBA students, faculty, and business advisors in an informal and elegant setting reinforcing IUM’s commitment to fostering community and collaboration within the international business space.
Embracing Cultural Learning in Monaco
The week concluded with a session on Cross-Cultural Leadership followed by a unique “Learn from Monaco” field experience a guided visit to the Casino de Monte-Carlo. This activity combined cultural immersion with business insight, helping students appreciate how history, innovation, and local culture intersect in Monaco’s global identity.
