Develop entrepreneurial thinking, strategic decision-making, and pitching skills

During the last residential week, MBA students participated in the Lion’s Lair simulation: MBA students are placed in the role of entrepreneurs who must present a business idea or venture to a panel of “Lions”, experienced professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, or faculty members. The format is inspired by real-world investment pitch environments.

During the exercise, students must clearly articulate their value proposition, business model, market opportunity, and financial rationale within a limited timeframe. The “Lions” then challenge the students with probing questions, testing their ability to think on their feet, defend assumptions, and respond strategically under pressure.

Beyond pitching skills, the Lion’s Lair simulation helps MBA students strengthen leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities. It also exposes them to realistic feedback from industry experts, offering valuable insights into investor expectations and decision-making processes.

It was a real pleasure to be part of the MBA Lions’ Lair Program at the International University of Monaco and to work with such motivated and curious students for the last few days.

Mentoring young talent is incredibly rewarding. The exchange of ideas, fresh perspectives, and open discussions is inspiring for everyone involved.

Overall, the Lion’s Lair simulation bridges theory and practice, preparing MBA participants for real-world entrepreneurial, consulting, and leadership situations where persuasion, clarity, and strategic thinking are essential.
