Celebrating 10 Years of Yachting Education at IUM (2016–2026)

The International University of Monaco is proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Yachting specialization within the MSc in Luxury Management, a pioneering academic journey that helped shape yachting education worldwide.

As the first university to introduce an academic program dedicated to Yachting Management, IUM has continuously combined academic excellence with strong industry collaboration to prepare future professionals for one of the world’s most exclusive and international industries.

A Decade of Innovation in Yachting Education

2016 – The Beginning

IUM launched the Yachting Track within the MSc in Luxury Management in collaboration with the Monaco Yachting Cluster.

From the very beginning, the program offered:

  • Participation in the Monaco Yacht Show
  • A 30-hour elective course designed and taught by yachting industry professionals
  • Business consulting projects in collaboration with leading companies such as Rossinavi, Fraser Yachts, and Edmiston

2018 – Academic Research in Yachting

IUM conducted its first academic research initiatives dedicated to the yachting industry, reinforcing its position as a thought leader in this evolving sector.

2020 – Expanding Industry Knowledge

IUM launched its first funded research project in partnership with the Superyacht Life Foundation, exploring why Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNWIs) with the financial means to purchase a superyacht may still choose not to do so.

That same year, the university also introduced a Yachting Entrepreneurship Award as part of its business plan competition, The Mark Challenge.

2021 – UHNWI Insights Summit

In collaboration with the Monaco Yachting Cluster, IUM organized its first UHNWI Insights Summit, bringing together industry experts and professionals to discuss trends shaping the future of luxury yachting.

2023 – International Industry Presence

IUM faculty members participated in the Superyacht Forum in Amsterdam, further strengthening the university’s international visibility within the industry.

2024 – Executive Education Development

IUM launched its first Executive Education program focused on UHNWI Client Management, with a yachting specialization, to address the evolving needs of industry professionals.

2026 – A New Milestone

Ten years after its creation, the Yachting Track officially evolves into a full Yachting Specialization within the MSc in Luxury Management.

The specialization now includes:

Experiential learning opportunities and consulting projects with companies such as Benetti, Azimut Yachts, YATCO, and Amico & Co

  • More than 200 hours of dedicated courses
  • Courses powered by La Belle Classe Academy
  • 31 specialized students

A Truly International Community

Over the past decade, the program has built a global network of more than 240 alumni working across the yachting industry, representing more than 40 nationalities.

Today, 74% of these alumni are based in Monaco, one of the world’s leading hubs for luxury yachting and maritime business.

As IUM celebrates this important milestone, the university remains committed to shaping the future of yachting education through innovation, experiential learning, academic research, and close collaboration with industry leaders.
