Last week, the MSc in Luxury Management students had the unique opportunity to explore the best of the best in the (super) yachting industry worldwide.

Immersion in the yachting industry

Throughout the four days of the Monaco Yacht Show, students managed to visit some yachts (Mrs. D, Scorpion, Dahlak, Coral Ocean, Sea Force One and Wally Casa), talk to yachting industry professionals (Filippo Ceragioli, Head of Marketing & Communications at Rossinavi and Eric Lepeingle, Head of Business Development – Power Division, at Wally) from very reputable shipyards and brokerage houses, and all in all enjoy the show.

« Being able to experience the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) from the inside, not just as a visitor, but having the opportunity to visit some of the most emblematic yachts in the world and get a glimpse of how the industry functions straight from the source was invaluable » as one of the student said.

During the show, they also had the chance to attend conferences and to hear about the latest trends in the yachting industry such as the Virtual Reality. Virtual Reality is being used in showcasing yachts that are not built yet to clients, giving them a clearer picture of what their yachts will look like, and letting them “experience” it before its even built. And it’s only the beginning! Augmented Reality is an other potential future development. It’s a real, filmed image of a yacht ordered by a client. This technology helps present the product to a client that is on the other side of the world. Technology is really breaking barriers.

This four days were an unforgettable adventure and a great learning experience!
