The Summer School allows participants to engage in an exciting and challenging program of learning while at the same time taking advantage of all that Monaco has to offer the summer visitor.
The Summer School offered four sessions on business, marketing, event management and finance. It was a great opportunity to live the Monaco experience through an academic course, and extra-curriculum activities. Indeed, as part of the Summer school, the students had the opportunity to discover another Monaco.
International Challenges & Multicultural Management: June 4-15
The first two weeks provided an introduction to the theory, concept and practice of business in an international environment. It focused on the international challenges, intercultural management and opportunities associated with organizational management and business. Students attended classes such as “Introduction to International Business and Strategic Thinking”, “Sells Component in International Business” and “Multicultural Challenges”. They also had the chance to visit Albanu, an handmade jewelery firm since 1928. They discovered the strategy behind international export from the perspective of a little Monegasque company (constraints and challenges). Finally, they welcomed Mr. Highman from the Monaco Welcome & Business Office (MWBO) who explained the difficulties and the expectations of opening a company in Monaco.
Event & Entertainment Management: June 18-29
With more than hundreds of events within a year, the Principality of Monaco proves to be one of the favorite place between the French and Italian Riviera to organize international events. Students had the opportunity to take their first step into event management process to learn how to manage a personal or professional event. In the middle of the first week, students attended the Monaco TV Festival which has, for more than half a century, presented the very best of television from around the world. The second week, they visited the Grimaldi Forum, the Monegasque Cultural and Convention Center. Mr. Sébastien Inzirillo (Sales Manager and Marketing Coordinator) and Mrs. Nathalie Varley (Communication Manager) explained the challenges inherent to such an event factory.
International Marketing: Premium Services: July 2-13
In the last two weeks students became familiar with the key concepts and activities related to international marketing and premium services. Communication skills were enhanced through a consideration of the techniques of marketing and students were introduced to the particularities of the luxury sector and Monaco’s role in this area. They visited the Château de Crémat to better understand the luxury and premium services offered in such a prestigious vineyard. Then the visit of the splendid “Yacht Club of Monaco” completed their understanding of the luxury hospitality sector.
Investing in the 21st Century: July 2-13
The course “Investing in the 21st Century” allows students to discover what it means to invest in today’s environment, including the fundamentals underpinning investment strategies and some of the best practices in asset management.
Furthermore the course provides a perspective on some of the latest trends in data analysis and ethical considerations that are shaping the future of the investment industry. Mr. Zago, Senior Manager at Deloitte Monaco, came to talk about the blockchain revolution while Mr. Dauman, Head of Private Equity at CFM Indosuez Wealth Management, gave them insights about private equity management. They also had the chance to visit CMB (Compagnie Monégasque de Banque) where Werner Peyer, CEO of the CMB, welcomed the students and explained the values of the bank and the role of a manager. After a quick introduction, a game allowed the students to discover the different jobs in a Private Bank. It was followed by presentations on specific departments and products (Compliance, Cybersecurity, Sales, “Femme et Finance Academy”, “Philanthropy Academy”, On-site training, Monaco ECO+, Mandat ESG).
