Bachelor Programs

Bachelor ProgramsAndrea Bolognesi is not only an Italian student currently enrolled in the Bachelor in Business Administration at IUM, he is also a professional swimmer for the Monegasque Team.

At 4 month old, he was already in a swimming pool enjoying his first experience with water. Growing up, he devoted more and more time to swimming. “I participated in my first real competition at the age of 6 and after that, I fully committed my time to training”. During his high school years, it became harder to manage and excel in both his studies and swimming. His days were composed of 5 or 6 hours at school, 3 hours of training and a 30 minutes commute to the pool. “At that time, being organized was the key of my success: I used to deal with lacking time on a daily basis, so my “strategy” was simply to take advantage of every single minute of my day to get the maximum done. As a matter of fact, it was common for me to study in the car, on my way to the pool, in order to lose the least amount of training session as possible because of homework.”

“Thinking about it today, I realize that the last 10 years of my life were very busy in comparison to other teenagers. However, I do not regret any of it. I enjoyed my busy lifestyle because it enabled me to mature and learn how to build strong relationships.”

After high school, he had to find a university which gave him the possibility to study and practice sports at the same time. “I was lucky to find IUM. First of all, because IUM gives the English language Business Administration courses, like the American model I always wanted to attend and, secondly, because thanks to the flexible curriculum and the willingness of IUM, I could combine two sessions of 2.5 hours of daily training,  while attending the university full-time. And, last but not least, the swimming pool is located next to IUM!”

In the future, Andrea would like to reach the highest results he can in swimming competitions and, of course, graduate on time. Then, he would like to continue studying with a master in sports business management or finance abroad, maybe in London, or anywhere in the US or Australia.

“IUM is the solution I have been looking for for as long as I can remember and, frankly speaking, I did not expect to find it! I’m so happy to be part of the IUM family!”
