In November, the International University of Monaco welcomed the founders of the Peace Jam Foundation. Dawn Engle and Ivan Suvanjieff introduced more than 90 bachelor and master students to their international educational outreach program to the youth of the world. The Foundation has 13 Nobel Peace Prize laureates on its Board and their role is to mentor the youth to change the world. The speakers invited the IUM students to become volunteers and mentor in their turn the local and international high-school students during the Peace Jam Youth Conference to take place in Monaco in June 2016.
They also invited the students to participate in the “One Billion Acts of Peace” Campaign, in which more than 6 million projects have already been launched by young people in more than 39 different countries to solve the most pressing problems in their communities and in the world. The ten core focus areas of the campaign are Advancing women and children; Access to water and natural resources; Education and community development; Global health and wellness; Environmental sustainability; Conflict resolution; Ending racism and hate; Human rights for all; Alleviating extreme poverty; Controlling weapons access and proliferation.
