MSc in Sport Business Management students are engaging with the sport business industry as much as possible, to make sure, they experience what the industry and real market is all about.

Monte Carlo Country Club

IUM’s current MSc in Sport Business Management students visited the prestigious Monte Carlo Country Club, where they were warmly welcomed by SMETT (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis) of Monaco, to take part and see in details the organization of the Rolex Master.

Thanks to this exclusive opportunity they could better understand the function of the SMETT team’s work throughout the year, and the different phases of organizing an event. They have had the chance to see ‘behind the curtains’ of the creation of such fantastic international tennis tournament as Rolex Master: from hospitality management, ticketing, media management and sustainability, through marketing, sales, and logistics. When it gets to logistics, it is important to mention the geographical challenges of Monte-Carlo.

They have interacted with the President of the SMETT, Mr Zeljko Franulovic, former international tennis player and winner of the Rolex Masters in 1970 ; Mr Poly, SMETT Director of Ticketing; Mr Rialland, SMETT Marketing, Sponsoring, Press and Arbitration Director; Mr. Valley, SMETT Sales Director. All of the discussion brought an extra added value to the day!

Automobile Club de Monaco

As part of their curriculum (Event and Venue Management class), our students had the chance to collaborate with Automobile Club de Monaco, on the organization of the Historical Grand Prix and the F1 GP.

During these 6 days, they got involved in different activities around the two major international sport events of Monaco.

They have cooperated with : Protocol, Classic Club Hospitality, Credit Suisse Drivers Club, Loges VIP Hospitality, TAG-Heuer Guest programme and Monaco Grand Prix Live, just to name a few.

The students were in charge of reception, guest coordination for The ACM and sponsors, Credit Suisse and TAG- Heuer.

Experiencing the beauty and the challenges of organizing an event and the team work around it, in the heart of these prestigious sport events, is the perfect way to learn and also to build professional network!
