As part of the Alumni career follow up program, IUM ensures it stays up to date with the careers of its alumni students.
To this end, IUM recently met with Karina Arakelyan, a Russian IUM MSc in Marketing alumna, who is now working with Louder, PR and Event agency in Moscow as Media Manager.
Describe your job position
As a Media Manager, I am in charge of communication with journalists and media, which includes press-release creation, organization of press-events and clients PR support.
Why have you chosen this IUM program at the time?
I have chosen IUM’s MSc in Marketing in order to gain knowledge in brand management, communication and to broaden the international experience of doing business.
Which skills or experience did you acquire at IUM that are useful in your current job and in the industry you are working in?
I acquired high quality communication skills, ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously, and analytical research tools; all needed skills for my job position.
As a MSc in Marketing alumna, why would you recommend the program you did to a professional?
I would recommend it for its particular international and professional background: it is a good opportunity to get international experience, see the multicultural interaction and get knowledge from the professionals from different cultures.
How do you see yourself in 5, 10 years?
As a PR professional with my own business project.
What type of advice would you give to students who would like to enter in the industry you are working in?
I would recommend them to be communicative and open to new acquaintances, as people and links are a must in the industry.
