We recently met with Alexandre Durandy, who is now working as Private Banker at Swisslife Banque Privée in Paris.

Alexandre graduated from the MSc in Finance program, Private Banking & Wealth Management specialization in 2016. During his studies at IUM, he did his internship in Portfolio Management at Julius Baer in Monaco.

He was then appointed Private Banker Assistant at J. Safra Sarasin in Monaco before starting his Private Banker position at Swisslife Banque Privée in Paris.

In your opinion, what are the key takeaways from the MSc in Finance program you graduated from?

The best gift professors gave us was to help us think for ourselves. It helped me to develop the right mindset and to be autonomous for new challenges.

Would you say that your studies at IUM help you in your different positions? If yes, how?

Studying at IUM is a great place to learn and/or improve our networking skills.

Barclays Day, the International Career Day, the Mentorship Cocktail party, to name a few, were opportunities to create new valuable connections with future employers, partners, or potential clients.

Monaco is also a big networking playground with special events such as the Grand Prix, the Yacht show, or the Tennis Master Serie. I believe that Sport is always a great way to connect to people either as an actor or as a spectator.

What advice would you give to people who decide to do this master?

Never stop looking for new opportunities. Anything can happen, so it’s always secure to have a couple of options.

Favorite memory about IUM?

My favorite memory about IUM was the Investment Simulation Competition our team won at Barclays in Monaco in 2015. It was a real challenge and exciting to have such an experience in financial markets surrounded by financial professionals. This experience gave me the desire to pursue a career in Wealth Management.
