Goldman Sachs International: The GS sustain approach to identify the long term European Corporate leaders by Richard Tufft, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research

Throughout 2014 , Goldman Sachs Research Team met 30 CEOs of the largest European companies from various industries , in order to get their insights on the economic perspectives of Europe, their views on major strengths and weaknesses, their worries, their recommendations for a future growth. From these interviews, GS team wrote a report, that is now shared with policy makers, economic experts, CEOs and investors.

Thursday morning, the GS leader of this initiative, Mr Richard Tufft met the IUM MBA students to share and discuss about the key findings and recommendations of the report, as well as to share his personal views on the European key challenges.  An interactive and open discussion that the MBA students enjoyed a lot.

After lunch, they visited Paul Smith office where they attended a presentation on the Marketing strategy of Paul Smith by Matteo Atti, Marketing Manager.

Sir Paul Smith, the emblematic English fashion designer, whose business and reputation is founded upon his menswear, has built and refurbished its London HQs as a home: a home with personal photographs, messages, gifts, bicycles (his passion) and thousands of little things that make the guest really feel the creativity and positive vibrations of this renowned designer.

MBA students visited the headquarters, were introduced to some team managers in Marketing, Mens wear design, Stores Architects, and retail: an enjoyable, fun and inspirational experience!

Quintessentially is a new and highly successful company, with now a global presence in the Premium Services offered to Ultra Networth Individual.

What are the key components of this success ? what are the next challenges of this fast growing company ?  These are the points addressed by  Lindsay Davis, Global Director of Partner Office Relations during one hour interactive discussion with the MBA students in the afternoon.

The end of the day was dedicated to relax and fun. A “Get together” with our London Alumni was organized at the NightBar.

Beament Leslie Thomas Recruitment Consultancy (BLT): Presentation of « Careers in the Consulting fields – Strategic/ business consulting » by Don Leslie, Career Counselor / Recruiter specialized in the Consulting industry.

Don Leslie is a founder-director of Beament Leslie Thomas Recruitment Consultancy, until recently, leader of BLT’s management consultancy recruitment practice. BLT have been voted Top Management Consultancy Recruitment Firm for the last six years by Top-Consultant readers (http://www.blt.co.uk/)

On Friday morning, Don spoke about the ‘hot’ sectors in the consulting market for 2015/16 and the prospects for business school students who want to join a consulting firm. For those new to the sector, he gave pointers on the level you joined at, the likely salary, and the state of the market in various countries. He also encouraged them to look beyond the big names in the sector: he outlined how a spell with a boutique firm can benefit your long-term career, discuss examples of such firms, and show you some techniques to help you prepare for consulting interviews. Finally, he asked them “Do you really want to be a consultant?”

In the afternoon MBA students attended the MBA Careers Fairs organized by the AMBA in London. They could meet with the recruitment managers of companies such as: Bloomberg, CIMA, Cognizant, Curzon Company, ebay, Gartner, Grant Thornton, L’OREAL, Microsoft.
