IUM students meet Formula One and Motorsport industry veteran
iero1.gif” alt=”” width=”141″ height=”196″ />On May 29th, IUM students, faculty and staff had the pleasure to host Mr. Stefano Buttiero, former professional driver and now consultant for businesses evolving in the fast-growing and demanding Formula One industry. Mr. Buttiero, an experienced driver, has spent about an hour and half discussing and exchanging with students about his 20-year career as a professional driver for great teams (e.g. was factory driver for Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Mercedes and Dodge and multiple times World champion in Supertouring and GT), the business strategy of Ferrari, career opportunities and outlook in the motorsport industry.
Among the audience, Cezar and Hossam (students enrolled respectively in the MIB and MSPS programs) were in particular very keen to know about the functioning of Ferrari’s flagship “Corse Clienti,” a high-end program through which owners of Ferrari cars are offered elite pilot lessons and complete logistics when competing in amateur championships (from F1, to GT or Ferrari prototypes).
Now a successful entrepreneur, Stefano gave participants an insight at Ferrari’s business model. The luxury car manufacturer and motor racing firm is perhaps one of Fiat’s most recognized and successful brands. In recent years, the firm with the “prancing horse” has experienced solid top-line growth especially thanks to its various dedicated “clienti” programs. Stefano’s description of the Ferrari Racing Days was in fact very inspiring for participants. Indeed, during his concluding remarks, Stefano provided specific guidance to those who seek to enter the industry (and firms such as Ferrari).
The IUM Community would like to sincerely thank Mr. Stefano Buttiero for his time and professionalism, and special thanks to Daria for having helped make this presentation come true. We look forward further exchanging and learning from Stefano in the coming future.
