The student association Laura Hazen, Annick Guenther, David Kratz , Yohan Larsen, Daniel Berezovsky, along with Ambar Ayala and Brett Lowers from the International University of Monaco decided to get all the students to participate in the fundraising to help the Philippines. They decided to work along with the Red Cross in collecting funds to help the Philippines recover from the disastrous Typhoon Haiyan that hit the country on November 10, 2013.
Each year IUM students and faculty join together for a joyful night to celebrate Christmas spirit before the end of the Fall semester. It is one of the biggest event of the year, organized by the student association. This year, the event took place at the Meridien Beach Plaza on December 6th, 2013 with the attendance of 290 students and faculty. They organized a raffle with many great prizes that were kindly donated by many local businesses of Monaco. Students and faculty benevolently bought tickets to contribute to the worthy cause. The raffle, along with the organization of the grand Christmas Ball, was a great success for IUM. The student association had the pleasure of entrusting the funds to the Red Cross Representative Claude FABBRETTI on Wednesday 11th, 2013 at IUM. Dean Antonella Patras was also present. Mr. Fabbretti gave a speech describing how the Philippines are doing and the Red Cross projects there. He also congradulated the students for their hard work and great interest in wanting to help the Philippines. The IUM student were pleased and wish to continue working with the Red Cross.
