The students of IUM took advantage of studying by the sea and started up their own beach volleyball team in May. BSBA student Bruno Bortuzzo is the captain, and said he started the team as he enjoyed the sport so much, and it was great to play in the fresh air beside the sea.
The team play on the specially created beach volleyball court on the Lavrotto Beach, and they’ve done incredibly well. They have been practicing every Thursday evening, and so far have come second in the third division of the Beach Volleyball Trophy Albert II. They have played against teams from Societe Generale and the SBM, and hope next term to be in the second division.
After the volleyball success Bruno is now setting up a rugby team, and he is keen to be contacted by any potential members. They will be meeting at the beginning of July the Director Technique of Nice’s rugby club, and it promises to be a very interesting rugby season ahead.
