Experiential learning is a necessity, not a choice in the nowadays dynamic business era.

The only way to truly learn the business is to practice it! This is why providing hands-on experience to our students has always been a priority at IUM.

Experiential Learning - Rossinavi

Exclusive Opportunities

One of the main strengths of the MSc in Luxury Management program is the focus on providing traditional classroom learning in combination with hands-on learning through various experiential learning opportunities, says Dr. Tarquini, Director of the MSc in Luxury Management program.

For instance, our students had the exclusive opportunity to jump on board a 70mt Yacht under construction thanks to our corporate relations with Rossinavi. This unique setting is part of the experiential learning students can only get exposed at IUM.”

Field Trips Experiential Learning - Marchesi-Antinori

At IUM, students are given the opportunity to apply their academic learning in a real business context outside of their day-to-day learning environment—usually during business competitions, internships, team-based projects, and field trips organized within the program.

“During their latest study trip, the MSc in Luxury Management students moved to Chianti Classico for an incredible visit: Marchesi Antinori. This is the perfect example of an application of all luxury codes studied in class: heritage, history, knowledge, exclusivity, experience, and rarity.”

Experiential Learning - Mepra

Creating networks

Recently, our students also had the pleasure of welcoming Andrea Balotelli and Monica Gnutti. They brought our MSc in Luxury students into the incredible world of Mepra. Students learned a lot about the fascinating world of luxury art of metalware and cutlery made in Italy, discussing product and distribution strategies.

“But experiential learning isn’t just about putting students in an industry context; it’s about giving them the chance to create opportunities for themselves, an important skill as business becomes increasingly globalized, says Dr. Tarquini.”

In summary, this type of experiential learning fulfills three main objectives:

  • Offer students the opportunity of acquiring a thorough knowledge of the luxury sector.
  • Make students understand the luxury codes and the business logic behind the glamorous curtains of the luxury world.
  • Help students acquire specific knowledge of the industry trends and international markets as well.

The MSc in Luxury Management program prepares highly talented, innovative, and global managers that can create added value in the Luxury Industry.
