CFA Institute Research Challenge: MSc in Finance students take up the challenge for the second time.
This year, the IUM team competes with seventeen other top schools in France and has to research and analyze PERNOD RICARD, a French company that produces distilled beverages.
I strongly believe that this new experience will bring me a lot in terms of knowledges in equity analysis. Participating to CFA is also a good opportunity to improve myself by pushing further. Challenging yourself is the only way to achieve excellent results in the professional life (and not only), said one member of the team.
For me, the CFA Challenge represents an outstanding opportunity to show my equity valuation skills to an external jury. Besides the theoretical knowledge, the experience to work in an international team and compete with the best universities in a very practical manner will prepare for a prospective job in the financial industry, said an other member of the team.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company — and also having the chance to meet with company management. Each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and if the report is selected, the teams are being asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.
The members of the team are very enthusiastic about the competition.
Our diversity in plural matters is the most valuable resource we can count on. Besides our cultural backgrounds, which enhances our creativity and taking different point of views, our previous academic disciplines help us to divide work and specialise according to our individual skills. Last but not least, we will benefit from the various professional experiences we gained so far within the financial industry, giving us an understanding of company valuation on the one hand and a sense for investors and customers on the other hand.
The MSc in Finance at IUM is filled with exciting challenges like this CFA Institute Research Challenge and provides opportunities for students to land careers with top financial institutions and very attractive position.
The participation to the competition was Professor Campa’s initiative who mentors the team until the very end. Despite of the huge amount of work on top of their studies they learn a lot in terms of time management, research, and applying the theory to a practical case. But more importantly they work in team, they have become good friends, and now planning new projects together.
IUM is very proud of the team and wishes good luck to Laetitia, Ksenia, Gerrit, Benjamin and Federico!
