For the first time, IUM students from the MSc in Finance program participate in the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company — and also having the chance to meet with company management. Each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and if the report is selected, the teams are being asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.
The IUM team competes with seventeen other top schools in France and has to research and analyze ORPEA, a retirement home group.
The members of the team are very enthusiastic about the competition. Just like IUM, they represent various backgrounds and nationalities (coming from Switzerland, South Africa, France, Italy and Sweden). “We are a squat team together” and they all agree that “it is a great learning experience and an honor to be chosen to participate”. It is also “a good way to stand out from the crowd and to market ourselves for future job opportunities“.
It was not always easy to find the time but the team proudly represented the International University of Monaco. The MSc in Finance at IUM is filled with exciting challenges like this CFA Institute Research Challenge and provides opportunities for students to land careers with top financial institutions and very attractive position.
The participation to the competition was Professor Campa’s initiative who mentors the team until the very end. Despite of the huge amount of work on top of their studies they learn a lot in terms of time management, research, and applying the theory to a practical case. But more importantly they work in team, they have become good friends, and now planning new projects together.
The MSc in Finance students submitted their report a week ago and are now waiting for the final answer.
IUM is very proud of the team and wishes good luck to Mia, Andrea, David, Franck and Willem!
