Graduation 2009
The International University of Monaco, set in one of the world’s leading financial centers, celebrated the graduation of its students into the global business world on June 20, 2009.
113 students from 39 different countries graduated in the Opera de Monte Carlo’s prestigious Salle Garnier. Thirty three student graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, along with 22 Master’s in Finance students, 27 students with a MSc in Luxury Goods and Services, 27 MBA students, 3 Executive MBAs.

The president Dr Maxime Crener gave a heartfelt speech to the graduating students: “If you are not willing to try to make your dreams come true, if you’re willing to settle for second best, for the easy life, for the life someone else is telling you to have, you’ll end up settling for less of a life than you could have had. Respect your future.”
It is also particularly hard for students to find jobs on graduation; particularly in the current financial situation. Sophie de Lorenzo, Head of Career Service explains: “Students must be particularly well-organized and focused, reading daily business newspapers and meeting professionals in order to target growing niche markets.”

Most of the graduating students from IUM, who have already received an offer or who have still been in the process to get it, found their job opportunity through intensive networking, using their own network or the network of the University. IUM prides itself on its mentorship program which has been particularly successful in this individualized targeted networking strategy, which has lead to some permanent positions for some of the students.
After the glamorous graduation ceremony the students and their families enjoyed a cocktail in the Opera Yard in the sunshine overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, before they got ready for a well earned Gala Dinner and Show at the Salon Méditerranée, Le Meridien Beach Plaza, Monte-Carlo. Over 700 people attending, making this a truly memorable event.
