Methods of Instruction

AN INSTITUTION FOUNDED IN 1986

The professors of The International University of Monaco are actively involved in the international business community. We offer courses that are not only academically challenging, but practical: IUM students study theoretical business models which allows them to develop effective business management ideas.

The courses combine the best of the American and Europeans systems of education.
The professors at IUM teach through case study methodology by presenting actual business problems so that students may understand the problems, analyze them, propose solutions, and defend and argue their positions.

Discussions of business cases teach students how to communicate effectively, to understand human behavior and to apply theoretical solutions to the problems that managers face.

As IUM classes are kept small, the professors know their students, as well as their interests, needs and abilities, and are therefore able to guide them toward successful study. IUM students must demonstrate that they can use, apply, interpret, analyze and modify the knowledge acquired to whatever context is appropriate.

Each student individually evaluates their professors based on the following criteria: course preparation and content, effectiveness of the textbooks, method of teaching, organization and presentation of the lectures and associated materials. This process enables IUM professors to enrich and refine their courses and teaching, and assures the University's continuation of high standards.

The educational system at the International University of Monaco equips students with the following:

   an understanding of the economic and social environments that constantly affect managerial business decisions;
   a mastery of modern techniques and methods required in business management, familiarity with the organization and operation of small firms and companies as well as large multinational corporations;
   training in pragmatic projects, business simulations, case studies, and, at the undergraduate level, application of these skills in practical on-the-job training.
