Visa/Residency Card
If you plan to live in France
Visa
If you need a visa, please inform us when you apply, and the document will be sent to you with your admission pack.
Go on www.diplomatie.gouv.fr.
1- click on the British flag to get it in English
2- Select “Visit France”
3- Select “where do I apply”
4- Choose the country name and the nearest French Consulate or Embassy from your residence
5- Click on the “Visa section”
6- Select “Long-stay Visitor visa”
7- Download the application form
8- You will find the complete list of document required which can vary from one French Consulate to another one.
Here are the documents which are mostly required:
A certificate of enrolment at IUM
A proof of Financial Resources (please collect already a second copy of this document as you will need one for your Residency card)
An international medical coverage insurance (please collect already a second copy of this document as you will need one for your Residency card)
A proof of residency in France or Monaco (housing contract for example)
High School or undergraduate diploma(s)
A birth certificate
After you have gathered all of your documents and completed the form, you may be asked to submit your file in person. Do not forget to bring the visa package sent with your acceptance pack.
Residency card
All students who stay over 3 months must apply for a “Carte de séjour” (Residency card). As soon as you arrive at IUM, you need to apply to get the residency card.
In order to obtain it, you need the following documents: (please try to collect those documents well in advance)
A copy of the valid passport
A copy of the visa
A Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
A copy of the Student ISIC card + school certificate in French (delivered by our IUM Registrar)
A Justification of Financial Resources (copy of opening contract with a Monegasque or French bank for example).
A Certificate of Residence (copy of your housing contract for example)
A Proof of medical coverage (worldwide medical and repatriation insurance coverage)
4 colored or black and white passport-size pictures.
If you plan to live in Monaco
If you need a visa, please inform us when you apply, and the document will be sent to you with your admission pack.

Go on www.diplomatie.gouv.fr.

2- Select “Visit France”
3- Select “where do I apply”
4- Choose the country name and the nearest French Consulate or Embassy from your residence
5- Click on the “Visa section”
6- Select “Visa for Monaco” and “Long-stay Student visa”
7- Download the application form
8- You will find the complete list of document required
You will be asked to provide them with more copies of documents, more application forms, a strong justification of resources, an official justification of a residence in Monaco and a criminal record for the last past 5 years.
After you have gathered all of your documents and completed the form, you may be asked to submit your file in person. Do not forget to bring the visa package sent with your acceptance pack.
Residency card
Any foreigner no matter their nationalities who intends to live in Monaco for more than 3 months must apply for a residency permit. As soon as you arrive at IUM, you need to apply to get the residency card.
You have to go to the Police Center and ask for an official file + an official date for your first meeting with an Inspector who will be the one treating your file from A to Z.
Fill out the form and gather the documents required:
valid passport
visa for Monaco
Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
Affidavit or official criminal record from the last past 5 years.
Student ISIC card + school certificate
Justification of Resources (copy of opening contract with a Monegasque bank + a letter from this bank reading that you have blocked 100,000€ on a specific without any interest saving bank account + copy of the letter or justification of sufficient means of existence given to the French Consulate; and/or proof of scholarship or loan if applicable).
Certificate of Residence (copy of your official registered and stamped contract)
Proof of medical coverage (worldwide medical and repatriation insurance coverage)
4 colored or black and white passport-size pictures.
