spending the year taking classes with titles such as "Luxury Consumer Behavior" and "Managing
Luxury Brands," and is planning on a career in anti-counterfeiting.
Despite the hit the economy is taking on the luxury industry, Patel is optimistic her degree will give
her an edge in the job market when she graduates, she says.
"I think being focused and having a specialization, especially in luxury, makes a person more
marketable in this economic climate," Patel says. "The ultra-wealthy will always buy luxury goods,
regardless of the fluctuations in the economy, so that kind of gives us some hope."
Patel is one of a growing number of students who, despite the uncertain times, are setting their sights
on a career in the luxury sector. In the past decade or so, more and more schools, many based in
Europe, have started to offer MBA degrees in luxury-brand management. The programs, which give
students the chance to specialize in sectors such as fragrance and cosmetics and wine and spirits, have
become increasingly popular as top luxury brands have seen double-digit increases in profits in recent
years.".

Un convegno che ha visto la presenza di numerose multinazionali, chiamate a portare le loro testimonianze sulle strategie di selezione e fidelizzazione delle risorse migliori. Come la catena Nt Hoteles che ha presentato il proprio sistema IT a sostegno delle strategie di hr: dalla reportistica alla gestione e aggiornamento delle informazioni sui candidati tramite fogli di calcolo, ai siti Internet per il recruiting verso candidati già in forza al gruppo o esterni, che contano complessivamente all'incirca 16mila profili. Tecnologia che, in ogni caso, non è sufficiente a superare i problemi tradizionali della selezione di alti profili. Una ricerca presentata da V. Hospitality nel corso dell'evento ha evidenziato che l'85% di aziende trova difficoltà nella ricerca delle figure desiderate e il 70% si trova costretta a formare in proprio il personale appena assunto. In particolare, l'It non riesce a superare i vantaggi dati dal colloquio diretto, che consente al candidato e al selezionatore di avere sensazioni sulla proposta. The study "What Makes Executives Trust Each Other?" has found a strong correlation between trust and nationality in business in four specific groups: Americans, Finns, Chinese and Chileans. After two years surveying 700 business executives in 38 countries, the study determined certain nationalities, specifically American and Finnish, are more likely to trust potential business partners from the same linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
