Networking Opportunities

At IUM many initiatives and opportunities are available to help the students network with members of the business community.

Mentorship Program

The mentorship program - part of the "Personal Development Program" - connects eligible MBA and Masters students with local and international business leaders who volunteer to share their knowledge and experience with program participants who wish to remain updated with specific industry trends and to better understand the "rules of the game".

The mentorship program's mission is to provide students with a unique and valuable opportunity to develop a relationship with a professional in order to gain a unique insight into a specific industry or practice.

The IUM Mentorship Program is unique for three main reasons:

1- All the mentors have or have already had leadership "C-Level" positions within companies, and most of them are currently CEO or chairman of multinational companies.
2- The mentors are required to meet the student at least four times a year and most of them accept to play the role of a "professional coach".
3- The Office of Career Development monitors the mentorship program to enable each student to be connected with a business leader working in their targeted career path.

"The program is an extremely valuable experience for our students, and every year, business executives from various industries - private banking, the luxury leisure industry, retail, manufacturing, etc., as well as successful entrepreneurs, participate and join our exclusive club of mentors" says Sophie de Lorenzo, Director of The Office of Career Development.

Professional Conferences

IUM organizes and sponsors high profile conferences around topics within the University's specialization in order to give the students the chance to establish direct contact with professionals as well as starting to create their own network.

Students are also invited to participate in a wide range of professional events such as the Monaco Hedge Funds Conference, The Monaco Luxury Marketing Summit, the NeXt Generation Entrepreneurs Forum, or the International Continuous Audit Conference.

Employer branding activities and corporate presentations

Corporate recruiters and placement consultants are invited by the University to present their activities, business topics, recruitment process, and job requirements.

Monaco Career Day

The Monaco Career Day is an HR event organized by the IUM Office of Career Services that connects HR managers and recruiters from Europe. It also brings together talented IUM students, from more than 20 different countries, as well as IUM’s alumni.

The first MCD was held on April 24th 2009 around the theme “redefining talent management strategies in 2009”. The event was divided into different sections: an HR conference, three afternoon sessions, technical workshops, employer branding and interviews. This scheme was created to give to all participants different networking and learning opportunities.

The HR managers and specialists attending the event had the chance to interact with an exceptional panel. This was composed of HR managers as well as directors from Vodafone, Eutelsat, PWC, Boston Consulting Group, British American Tobacco and Volvo.

As the first event was such a success, the IUM OCS and their partners have decided to make the MCD an annual event.
The second event will be held on April 16th 2010.

The organizers will be working hard to make sure that HR professionals and students will be able to enjoy a great learning and recruiting experience at IUM.
