The International University of Monaco (IUM) is looking for students who possess the potential and desire to succeed
in a rigorous academic environment. We seek a diverse group of individuals who exhibit intellectual potential, strength
of character, and a love of learning. Entrance is determined by a student's overall record. While the greatest weight
is placed on academic records, we also consider leadership skills, character, and special talents.
The purpose of our personalized application and admission process is to find students who will gain the most from the
programs and opportunities that IUM offers. We look for students who want a university that will empower them and
expand their horizons. We seek students who are ready to work hard to achieve their goals who will bring a wide variety
of interests and backgrounds to the IUM community.
We have found that a student's high school or college record is generally the most reliable predictor of their academic
ability. The application, essay, test scores, recommendations, and an optional (but strongly encouraged) interview give
further evidence of scholastic ability and personal promise. It is the combination of these factors that determines
admission to the university.
IUM uses the combined criteria to formulate a matrix or assessment rubric upon which we base the admission decision.
We are most interested in understanding the prospective students as they are - as an individual - so we can determine
whether IUM can meet their needs and goals. Therefore, all supporting materials and credentials submitted by the
applicant should present their background, strengths, thoughts, and interests in the clearest possible manner.
You may download a copy of the IUM Undergraduate Application and Graduate Application for Admission. After review of the application
procedure on the back of the form, the application should be completed with no areas left unanswered. If a question of
requirement is not applicable to your application please indicate with an N/A. Please be sure to sign the application before
submitting.
We have also provided two letters of recommendation forms which can be printed and mailed or emailed to your referees. Two letters of Reference are required -from referees who provide an academic
reference or an employer (work based) reference. Please refer to the instructions on the Academic Reference Form or the Employer Reference Form for information
required from these referees.
A nonbinding Early Decision program is available to first-year candidates. Applications are due December 15th.
Applicants will be notified of admission decisions in mid-January and must submit an acceptance of offer in order to
hold their place.
Prospective students who apply for Early Decision benefit from the small applicant pool and access to scholarship funding.
As IUM operates on a rolling admissions basis, the pool of applicants becomes more competitive as the year progresses. Student
who wait to apply in the final trimester vie for the smallest number of places against the largest group of applicants.
If you are applying for financial aid, you must submit your aid application and your admission application by the
appropriate application deadline.
Admission decisions will be made on a rolling basis beginning in January for fall applicants.
All offers of admission are contingent upon maintenance of the standard of performance upon which admission was based
for the balance of the applicant's academic year.
In addition to the application for admission, the following credentials are required:
Candidates must submit an official high school transcript which includes courses in progress. All candidates must have
a secondary school diploma or be eligible for one from an approved 4-year high school.
Some international students may only receive one copy of their records, in which case they should submit certified
copies of secondary school records and of all internal and external test results, college records, if any, and school
certificates or matriculation examination scores. For records in other languages, we require the certified original and
a certified translation. The secondary school transcript should include courses in progress.
Proof of English language proficiency is required of all students who are non-native speakers of English. A minimum
TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT or 79-80 IBT), a TOEIC score of 785, an IELTS score of 6.0, or a score on the IUM English
Proficiency exam of 85/100, is necessary to be considered for regular admission. (For information on provisional
admission, please see below.) Students who have studied at an institution where English was an official language, for
at least three years, are exempt from the above requirement.
IUM is an official TOEFL test center (Number STN11063A). Students who wish to take the TOEFL exam at IUM may apply to
do so on the Education Testing Service (ETS) website at www.ets.org/toefl/.
Whilst the TOEFL is the most accurate and best test of your level of English proficiency, IUM also offers a
complimentary IUM English Exam, by appointment, during regular business hours.
Applicants with a TOEFL score which does not meet the minimum standard, and who are otherwise academically qualified, may be admitted to IUM on a provisional basis. Provisional status enables students to enter the BSBA program while they take specialized English language courses in the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). After successful completion of the IELP courses with a grade of C or better the student will be reviewed for formal admission to IUM. Students participating in this option pay for their IELP classes on a per-course basis.
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) offers intensive English language instruction designed to prepare students for academic study. Intermediate and advanced students study grammar, reading, writing, conversation, listening comprehension, and academic skills on four proficiency levels for 24 hours each week.
All candidates must have submitted at least two letters of recommendation from former teachers, guidance counselors, principals (Academic Reference Form), or a former employer (Employer Reference Form). Recommendations from family members or family friends who do not know the student in the above mentioned capacity are not eligible. Forms are provided with the application and may be submitted individually or attached to a letter.
You must submit a copy of your current passport.
You must also submit 4 passport style (color photo, head and shoulders meeting passport specifications) and size
photos to be used for identification purposes.
Please be aware that this photo will be used for your University ID and other internal purposes.
A nonbinding Early Action program is available to graduate applicants. Applications are due December 15th. Applicants
will be notified of admission decisions in mid-January and must submit an acceptance of offer in order to hold their
place.

can be made by writing or telephoning the Office of Admissions. Special Open Doors days are held throughout the
academic year from February to June. Contact the Office of Admissions for dates.
Regular office hours are 8:30 am to 6:00 pm weekdays. Special appointment can be made for times outside of regular
office hours.

Once the IUM Admissions Committee receives your complete application with all supporting documents, it conducts an
evaluation of your application. Based on the program curriculum and prerequisites the committee members review your
official transcripts and other supporting materials to determine the following:
Whether you meet the minimum academic requirements as indicated by your academic background, grades, and exam scores;
Verification of your official transcripts;
Evaluation of transfer credits for undergraduate transfer applicants;
Review of your letters of recommendation to determine academic suitability and motivation to study in the chosen field;
Review of your essay to determine motivation, commitment and uniqueness and contribution to University's mission;
This review takes an average of 2 weeks from the time we receive your final documents.
For those applicants selected, the committee members will prepare an acceptance package
including an Offer of Admission letter, Acceptance of Offer letter, Certificate of Admission, Invoice of Tuition and
Fees, and an Enrollment Packet with housing and other information.
Important: You should carefully read the documents in the acceptance package.
The offer letter provides you important information on the items which you must complete by the deadlines given.
In order to formally accept your offer of admission you must return the Acceptance of Offer letter enclosed with your offer of admission.
An enrollment deposit of €1,900 is required of all entering students by the date stated in the offer of admission.
Important note: If the Acceptance of Offer is not returned by the date specified on the Offer Letter along with
the enrollment deposit, then the University reserves the right to withdraw the offer of admission. Applicants who have
had their offer withdrawn must re-apply.
The student's final secondary school or college transcript must be submitted to the Admissions Office as soon as they
are available. Students who are studying abroad must also submit official results of all final grades and leaving
examinations. Students should request that these documents be sent to IUM prior to leaving their home country.
These results must be received before a student will be allowed to register for classes. All offers of admission are
contingent upon maintenance of the standard of performance on which admission was based. Final official transcripts
must be received by September 4 (earlier if possible) for students enrolling in the fall. Students will not be allowed
to register for classes if their final documents are not on file at IUM.
